Dress Code Bias by Nya Hernandez

Female students are often scolded for how they dress and have strict dress code rules when it comes to school. This is an issue because it is very biased how boys are allowed to wear whatever they choose and come in any type of clothing such as tank tops and shorts, but when a girl even has her shoulders out, it is considered “distracting”.

Some ways to address this issue is by enforcing a unisex dress code. Women should not have about 100 rules while men have 2. Teachers need rules to know their place when it comes to addressing certain dress code violations towards women.

Another issue involving dress code is the sports uniforms for girls. Schools will often send girls home for violating dress code but make uniforms that don't fit the dress code, but they allow them to wear them, like cheerleading uniforms, volleyball uniforms, and more. Rules should be made where sports uniforms aren’t too sexual and make the girls who wear them comfortable.
